Shady El-Hamus is a film director, theater director, and screenwriter. He became known for his film De Libi , for which he won a Golden Calf for Best Screenplay with Jeroen Scholten van Aschat and for which he also served as director. This was followed by the first Dutch Netflix film, Forever Rich , which garnered three Golden Calf nominations. In the autumn of 2023, his second Netflix Original film was released: Crypto Boy . The latter was a collaboration with his younger brother, actor Shanine El-Hamus, and his father, actor Sabri El-Hamus. Shady El-Hamus made his theatrical debut with the production De dood van Benny Simons in 2025.

Through his films, theater productions, and screenplays, he seeks new perspectives on recognizable themes such as identity, ambition, friendship, and the search for meaning. His work is characterized by a keen eye, genuine curiosity, and a great ability to connect different worlds and experiences.
